The quality of sleep can be influenced

Eating, drinking, and sleeping are basic needs. If we ignore these needs over a longer period of time, we do not feel well. In the worst case, we become ill.

Just like eating and drinking, the quality of sleep can also be significantly influenced. Even if we are not consciously aware of "good" sleep (since we are in a state of unconsciousness), it contributes significantly to our health.

Here are a few tips for a good night's sleep:

The mattress
If the mattress is of good quality, the bed frame and the slatted frame play a rather subordinate role. It is therefore definitely worth investing more time and money in a good mattress than in an often overpriced slatted frame. Which mattress is best depends on many factors, such as the age, sex, weight, height and build of the person.

The pillow
The choice of pillow contributes significantly to a restful and healthy sleep. In combination with the mattress, the pillow plays a decisive role in the correct support of the neck and spine. Side sleepers must pay special attention to the depth of their shoulders when choosing their pillow and adjust the height of the pillow accordingly. Back and stomach sleepers, on the other hand, tend to need a flat pillow.

The duvet
The duvet protects and warms the sleeper and has a significant influence on the sleeping climate. A good duvet optimally balances out moisture and temperature and ensures that the sleeping person neither freezes nor sweats; so they can relax in their dry, pleasantly warm and cosy bed.

The sleeping environment
The bedroom should not be too warm; it should have no disturbing light sources, no clock, no television, no computer. In addition, you should only use it for sleeping and only go to bed when you are tired. For repeated waking phases: get out of bed and have a drink or just sit in an armchair.

Regularity
Regular sleep is important for your recovery rhythm, even at weekends.

Eliminate disturbing factors
Write down disturbing thoughts and leave them outside the bedroom.

Diet
Heavy food and excessive alcohol consumption in the late evening are no good sleeping aids, as the body must digest a lot during the night and cannot rest.

And, especially important: Don't be afraid of nights with poor sleep; single nights with little sleep are normal.
