Down duvets

The duvet: simple, practical, good

Along with pillows, duvets are classed as bedding items. The word comes from the French, meaning "down".

A duvet consists of a cover that can be filled with different materials. We at duvetsuisse.com only use high-quality down as filling material for our duvets .

Unlike the American "Comforter" (duvet and duvet cover in one), the duvet is protected by a detachable duvet cover (bed linen), which can be easily removed and washed.

Duvets make it easier to make the bed, as they can be used without sheets or other blankets: shake once, then lay on the bed, and you're done.

A good duvet has a significant effect on the quality of your sleep. So does a bad one

A good duvet balances moisture and temperature well and improves the conditions of your sleep. It ensures that you are neither too hot nor too cold, but can rest in a dry, pleasantly warm and cosy sleeping environment.

Good duvets have a high down content and large fluffy down with good fill power.

These provide better insulation and climate control than small flakes of down with a lower fill power.

Inferior duvets have heavier covers and smaller down with a lower fill power and/or a higher proportion of feathers. They are heavy, do not insulate well and offer less sleeping comfort.

Good down duvets from duvetsuisse.com

A good down duvet keeps the temperature constant without accumulating heat or moisture. The climate in the sleeping environment remains pleasant, cosy, warm and dry. This contributes to a healthy and restful sleep, and thus to quality of life.

As filling material, we only use high-quality, new down with large clusters and a very good fill power. These, in combination with the carefully matched covers made of the finest cotton, ensure an excellent environment in bed.

Depending on your quality and warmth requirements, you can choose between four qualities (Premium, Top, Standard, Basic) and five degrees of warmth (Super Light, Light, Medium, Warm, Super Warm).

Since at duvetsuisse.com we only use high-quality down with large clusters and good fill power, we achieve high thermal performance, very good hydrophilicity (moisture absorption and release) and perfect breathability with small filling weights.

It is therefore possible for our wonderfully light and airy duvets to have significantly better properties compared to 20-30% heavier commercial duvets with a lower quality of down.

The advantages of duvetsuisse.com duvets : they are fluffy, cosy, breathable, hydrophilic, durable and incredibly light.

Duvetsuisse.com’s Warmth Points

Warmth points

We divide our duvets into 5 warmth classes and label them with warmth points.

We give 1 point to the lightest quilts, 5 to the warmest.

As our duvets have very high-quality down, they are very light, but on the other hand they heat more than average. If you are unsure, it is better to choose a lower degree of warmth (e.g. Medium instead of Warm, or Light instead of Medium).

We only assign the maximum warmth level of 5 points (Super Warm) to our 4-seasons duvets: these are composed of two individual duvets (1 warmth point and 3 warmth points) which can be joined together. Together they achieve 5 heat points due to the additional insulating space between them.

High quality, long durability, low average costs

High quality, long durability, low average costs

The lifespan of a good quality duvet is on average six to seven years.

Even with regular airing and shaking, the natural contents of a high-quality duvet gradually lose their elasticity and warmth. The natural filling material decomposes, and the down loses its basic properties.

If you take an average purchase price of approx. €500 (for a single size), a quality duvet will only cost approx. 20 euro cents per night, for an average use of 7 hours per night. Even the coffee or tea that you drink in the morning after waking up costs more.

The 4-seasons duvet: two in one!

The 4-seasons duvet: two in one!

A 4-seasons duvet consists of two individual duvets that can be easily separated and joined together again. One part consists of a light summer duvet in small check quilting. The warmer duvet for the transitional season is filled with more down and quilted in larger squares.

Both duvets can be used individually. But if you button them together, they will make a very warm duvet.

Please note: a 4-seasons duvet usually produces more heat than the sum of the individual duvets. The additional heat point is due to the air insulation between the two duvets with the different check sizes.
